My* New* Hunting Rig

Yeah... nice looking rig... what is the ROT on that barrrel? Just curious, the ROT's are quite varied on the 7BR's depending on the application.
Good luck with your Moose hunt.... that rifle should be perfect.

Well , the hunt was successful. Not for me personally , but our camp got a bull moose, maybe 2 years old,and a bear.Oddly enough even though this camp has no running water or hydro , they had a digital scale, so I finally got a weight on it.It weighs in at 10.13 lbs empty, no wonder there is very little felt recoil.
The only problem I ran into with this rig, was the overall length. It was just a little too long to be handy in the bush, so I'll probably put it on the block, and get myself a Marlin guide gun, in 45/70 for next years hunt.

That's pretty hefty for a 7-08 brush gun. ;) My Sako in 300 Win Mag pushes 11lbs all up and makes for a cumbersome brush gun so I know what it's like to lug around. It's nice having that extra weight at the range but I guess that's negligible with a 7-08.

Anyway, congrats on the successful hunt!

Nice rig Scott.
Sounds heavy, take her out for a Jenny Craig marathon at your smithy and have him hog her out to .458x2 . That would loose some wieght!

Don't imagine there is enough meat in the barrel......

It does look nice !
