Marlin 1893 takedown in 30-30, made in 1901. Some time in the past someone cut the barrel down to 20" (a while back, but they did a good job - see the last pic) but the bore is good so she should make a decent shooter. Locks up good and tight too - bolt and takedown mechanism. Just something about a rifle that will fit completely into a box 22" in length :D

Are you sure the barrel was cut? They had a whack of variations on those old rifles...dunno if they did a takedown Short rifle, but why not?
Beautiful rifle, BTW.

I had the serial # checked against the Marlin records - it left with a 26" tube. Plus the dovetails, although in the right spot, are just a little "off" Marlin's usual dovetails.

Niiiiiice, im green with envy,:D we dont see many of those oldsters down here, lotsa Winnys and Rems though. cheers .45-90:)

Okay, Ill give ya $150 but not a penny more! So, Im jealous. Love those old Marlins. Never been a big Winnie fan and owned one for a while but I have a soft spot for the Marlins. Nice catch.
