So, I traded for this beautiful Carl Gustov 1919 M96, and it came with a replica sniper mount. I decided to go ahead and mount it, and get a new bolt body with the bent handle. Finished it up tonight, and I think it looks pretty dang good, what do you guys think? I plan on installing a Bold trigger in it, for smaller groups, not so much authenticity! I know I should have a proper Ajack scope, but this Weaver K10 with command post will have to do, at least for now. I am hoping to go try it out here fairly soon, to see what it can do.

SWEDE Mod 96

The rifle looks to be a very nice one the tiger striping on the stock looks great. Finding an original scope and base-mount is difficult but not impossible. Enjoy the rifle, I'm sure it'll surprise you as to it's accuracy.

I just mounted one of those SSR mounts on a bubba'd K-98, it's a neat mount, eh?

Did you have issues getting the scope to fit right? The mount that I aquired had 26.3mm rings. I went with a vintage Kahles 2.3-7 scope, but even though it's dia was 26mm, it didn't fit right ( hence the paper bushings that are obvious in the pic ). I carefully used strips of .10 & .05 brass shim stock to get the fit right.
The fact that it dismounts/mounts in seconds with no loss in zero is very cool.
Gotta " Love those Barvarian's, so meticulous" ( to quote Satan... 'Garden of Alla' by Don Henley ).
Sweet rifle.

Do you know if the rifle was an original sniper rifle missing the scope and mount or if it was drilled and tapped by someone else?

The rifle wasn't an original sniper, I drilled and tapped it myself for this mount. Tokguy, no I had no troubles with the mount at all. I tink my mount is a different brand than yours, and it came with a set of metal shims for the rings when mounting a 1" scope. I and a friend were looking through the scope out the window today, and even though it is a rainy, overcast day, everything was crystal clear, even out to a mile! Can't wait to see how "wickedly accurate" it is! The bore, as everything else on the gun, is immaculate.

Nice work ... :)

You should try to locate some correct Swedish service ammunition manufactured for the military. I don't think there's a lot of it left around, so it's probably worth a premium now to anyone shooting old Swedish milsurps, particularly the M41b sniper rifle series. ;)
