Thanks a ton for all your advice you folks have given over the past couple years that I've been involved w/ gunnutz..... this build would never have happenned......

Especially Sparrow and Brock at Hunter's for all their advise and expertise. they really helped me out exponentially, they've givn me so much great service, pro bono when needed and true professional advice..... I'm so lucky to have these black gun guru's so close:D I'm not sure if they know what 30-06 is:) but I'll ask.... that's on my next wishlist;)

A very nice package indeed, I got to handle it yesterday and it will make an excellent Service Conditions and Tac Rifle platform, glad you stuck to the taper pins instead of clamps or set screws. I love the mid-length platform.

Well thank ya very much!
And I know I know..gotta get some range time in with this and quit being one of these cyber fantasy "always wanting the next best thing" tool collecters

oh and hey....a couple of questions...... just to save some time and money... what round 'usually' gives the best accuracy in a 1:7...it'll give me a start after I finish my 55g ..

and should I do anything special for this virgin barrel's break in? I know it's chrome.....but.....thought i'd ask

if you want to use the BDC to its fullest then stick to 62 grain.

Yes i do, but I'll never know the potential of the 8 line:D Maybe hole 7 at GGC(god, don't we like acronymns) when the bear creek zombies emerge, they keep taking my balls, gall darn it:D

It's first day at the range was last night, probably 8 above and just pissin, shooting AE 55gr, the first 100 were about 2" at 50 yards, and the next 100 were about 3" at100yds and I'll tell ya I can't shoot worth ####........ but it cycled flawlessly, no hang ups at all, and very low recoil. What a difference w/ midlength gas! I've never shot a rifle length gas but was this ever impressive to me. I just can't wait to go again and try a 2 stage with a proper bench rest.......

I feel i have the potential for warrior weapon greatness here:rolleyes: :), and want to feed it some exotic ####, but if I go more than 62 ball my BDC won't "be to it's fullest"? I actually forgot about that. What about the 77 SMK or 77 Nosler, 75 black hills, I got to go heavy, right? I didn't buy a 1:7 for nothing;) What else is that heavy and works, and what if any can I find?
.

Soochco, might I ask where you got the barrel and how much it weighs? I'd like to get my hands on a 1:7 twist midlength sometime in the future.

Of course you may:) ...... it's a 2lb 3oz mid weight profile with excellent balance compared to my old HBar. Read all about it here: http://ar15.com/forums/topic.html?b=3&f=12&t=239897&page=1

As far as I know, there are no 1:7 in midlength gas with chrome lined. Lots of stainless 'recon' config w/ midlength but no chrome lined. Also lots of 1:9 chrome lined middy's but again not in 1:7. So Denny went and contracted it out with his own designed profile. Mind you, it seems like the same profile of the mid weight colt M4 14.5.

I imported this along with all the larue stuff on the permits through a contact of mine who happens to have a FFL in Seattle:) , he signed it off and charged me a pretty penny too. I actually got stopped before the border by US border patrol, good thing I had my export perms!!!!

Yup and that's exactly where I got em too...... those boys are the shizzle

Oh and go Klippers:rolleyes: .... too bad I'm from rosetown:D

I thought it might have been one of Denny's barrels from your description. I've been drooling over his "operatorer" barrels since I first saw them on arfcom.

Leg, this IS the operator!!! I posted here this last summer if anyone else was interested in a 1:7 middy, but only had one taker. I was trying to get Denny to export them up here but he wanted to pre sell at least 25 to make it worth his while. Plus nobody here really's knows about him, myself included, and didn't want to drop $400 on a no name barrel maker but he has a great reputation their for his workmanship and his commitment on AR15.com

I do remember someone asking about 1:7 midlengths awhile back. Didn't realize someone was trying to bring a few in. Unfortunately, with buying a house recently and a baby on the way, I've had to stop buying big ticket items. Someday....
