My old mosin stock was damaged by me by mistake rendering it useless, So I figured I would try fixing it up considering I like shooting surplus ammo and wanted something to hunt deer with.

Hey OP, thats a sweet set up.
Can I ask what the weight of the total set up is?
I've never handled a mosin before, and I have been wondering about this set up for a deer rifle.
Would it be easy to mount a scope on set up?
 
I like the AA stock, but the 91/30 is quite long in that setup. Especially for hauling in the bush on a hunt.
I prefer the M38 for this particular rig.
 
I don't have the means to weigh it but I would say the same as the original mosin maybe even abit more.. I have a scoped model 70 but I cant afford to practice with it for hunting so I built this. Mount would be easy to get on, weather it will hold a zero well I don't know because I have never used one. I seen loads on amazon.ca.

Yup this thing is long. Its nice and comfortable prone tho. I had the 91/30 so I used it, cheap to replace to... I like the AA stock because you can drop so many guns into it and the lifetime warranty. For 195$ I figured I could use the stock for other guns as well or my next mosin. Its hard getting over the fact your putting a 200$ stock on a 160$ gun tho. I hate the danm hex screws tho. I'm going to try to make my own flat head ones.
 
The archangel stocks are the only plastic stocks I like for the reds, nice that you get a mag that's removable. Is it a 5 rd mag like the stock or a 10 rd? That might be a deciding factor if I pick up this stock when I get a mosin in the new year.
 
IIRC it comes with a 5rd mag, but they sell 10 rd mags for that stock as well.

These mags seem to have nearly a 50% function rating. Half feed, the other half need slight modification. Check youtube.
 
Careful of the amazon mounts... In the process of sorting a scope for mine and the only one that seems to hold up in my digging is the rocksolid mounts that are a nightmare to get across the border. Can be done but hard. Other ones seem to come loose and then your stuck with low power scopes for a long range rifle.....

I just ordered the M44/M38 version of the Brass Stacker mount for my M38... They get good reviews down south, but don't make it north of the border very often.

I'm hoping it works out. Now I'm just torturing myself on what LER scope to get.
