Hello CGN!
This is my first Thread on here so i decided to make it about my newest purchase My Mosin Nagant M38 Izhevsk 1943!
To start off i absolutely love this gun shoots accurate has a nice bang and a decent kick (Enough so you know its powerful but not enough to pop your shoulder out)
Does anyone know a Reliable site to Purchase Ammo for it?
It takes 7.62 x 54 and it seems like no one in my area has even heard of that ammo, its quite frustrating, I went to Cabelas looking for some and they kept insisting i was looking for SKS (7.62x39) ammo and told me i was speaking of some non-existent round
I ended up getting the last boxes at a local gunshop but he says he cant get the stuff anymore
Can anyone help me out?
Also would this model be worth putting a scope on? I've Read some models are worth it and some are not im not sure which category mine falls into
Much thanks!

Also. Pics

wholesale sports has the surplus ammo if you want to walk up and buy. Otherwise order it from SFRC, Tradeex, Canada Ammo....

I can't comment on scoping, since I'm not big on scopes myself.

I've never seen SFRC so that's awesome they have exactly what Im looking for.
I normally use Canada Ammo but there sold out

I would track down some surplus and also some Prvi (it is great brass)

As for a scope.... I would leave it original.

Cheers

I'm not a re-loader yet, i would like to in the near future so good brass is imporant, Thanks on the Tip

I'm not much on the scope either, my buddy its trying real hard to convince me otherwise haha

Site sponsor Budget Shooting Supply has Prvi Soft point and FMj for a good price and a really great shipping rate.
Your 43 91/30 might not be worth much today, but 20 years down the road..... Keep it original
I love shooting mine with irons. Make sure to try yours with the bayonet, should shoot tighter.

Cheers

Awesome! ill look into that
When i bought it at the gun show a couple weeks back it never came with a bayonet

When I got my first Mosin the rifle was $19.99 and the only ammo available was Norma commercial hunting cartridges for $39.99.
