I shot an IMI Desert Eagle in .357 back in 1984 when they 1st came out and thought it was kind of neat. I had the itch for one since......... Didn't want to spend $1800 to $2K+ on a new one so I went without it for the longest time. Then this one came up on the EE from a fellow member. It was broken and needed fixing but the price was right so I bought it. I was able to fix and fine tune it in about 3 hrs. It's probably way better at this point than it was brand new. Cycling smooth as butter. So I took it to the range today and fired off 100 rounds without a hitch . The gun is now running like a top. I don't know why the DE in .357 gets a bad rap. This gun is a joy to shoot. I'm stoked that I finally have one in the collection. And it's a 4 digit serial number to boot!!

I had a 357 DE in 1986 and they were not the most reliable at that time, even using the exact ammunition recommended in the owners manual it had jamming problems. Of course back then there wasn't much known about the DE and there wasn't the internet resources we have now to help with any problems. Mine was Serial number 8970 and I paid about $630 for it new, somebody on CGN might have it now.
Glad to hear that your works fine.

That number is about 600 before mine.

how is the finish on the gun?. any pitting or rust? my gun is pretty new its got the fluted barrel but its pitted in some spots really bad. I just wonder if all the guns In the basic finish deteriorate? whats yours like?

Mine's fine, no pitting and out of the whole gun there was one little spot of rust in the concave tip of the gas piston. But the IWI models do have a different finish/coating than the Magnum Research models.

Mine looks like it does in the pic..........No pitting what so ever and it's actually better shape than I had originally hoped for. I bought it with the intention of Armacoating it (since I Armacoat myself) but the gun is so clean, I decided to leave it alone.
