Here she is in all her glory.
Pirates of the Cariboo here we come :D

This is a Perscribed Antique 1873 Springfeild trapdoor 45 70 single shot Pistol.

Bear defence anyone! I shoot a Remington 1871 Rolling block pistol in loaded down 50 70 so this is no worse than it.

Crappy pic but its all i got till she gets here.

A thing of beauty :)

I have a 50-70 Spring, did they ever make those in 50-70??
Tell us more? How common are they?
Would their be enough $$ in my coin jar to be able to afford one :(

Yes these were made orignal as pistols by springfield in 50 70
I was told this by and old collector in the US.
This one is 45 70 tho so maby they altered it by putting in a 45 70 barrel im not sure and dont mind as i load the 45 70 to.

Ive seen 3 of this type of pistol in all my searching on the net in 4 years and this one is the nicest one!
Yes mine is a perscribed Antique in Canada.
Im not sure if its exactly the same as the trapdoor rifle. As i dont have it yet.
Im sure the trigger has been changed tho.
Im looking for springfield parts just the same.
The Rifles aint cheep thats for sure i didnt know that the rifles were like $900 and up.

If I were you Mark, I'd start mixing the plaster now for the cast that your hand is going to require.:D Let me know what that cannon was like to shoot.
