Well, seeing as we're on a bit of a Ross binge, I figure I'll share the new Ross I received recently.

So, what is she? She sports a 25" barrel, some type of custom stock and was drilled and tapped for an aluminum scope rail (not pictured, not exactly pretty).

What the heck did I buy, and what would she be worth?

.
You have a Ross Mark III that was sporterized in England and sold as surplus. It has Birmingham proof marks on it. It was formerly a British Royal Navy rifle, the "PH 825" is for Priddie's Hard,( rack number 825), a naval ammunitioning depot. The "N" on the side of the action is a Navy ownership mark. The original stock has been replaced by a purpose made sporter stock. The rear sight is missing, but available for less than $50 and the rifle has been drilled and tapped for some kind of scope bases. The bolt number does not match te action, and the barrel has been cut down. As a sporting rifle, worth $200 - $300 depending upon bore condition.
