Hello All;

So I'm a long time gun user, first time gun owner. Having been overseas for a few years (New Zealand), I've just returned (with the wonderful little Kiwi in tow) and am now the proud owner of two Russian long arms. I've bought an SKS type 42 in 7.62x39 (of course) and a Baikal MP-153 semi automatic shotgun.... And I'm oh so very proud!

In other news I've also just taken my CRFSC exam (challenging rather than taking the course) and scored 100% written and 94% practical. Overall you could call it a successful reentry into Canadian gun ownership. *smiles*

Anyone have any tips or suggestions for a newbie?

Cheers,

CE

hey nice purchases. i own a izh russian sks and love it just make sure you clean the heck out of it if you are using corrosive ammo, that will ensure a long happy relationship. as for the mp-153 i also have one of those and like it, took it duck hunting this fall. doesn't like 2 3/4 rounds but it eats up the
3" bb. just make sure you only use dry lube in it. grease+dirt+massive use =jammed solid gun. had to strip it down completely to the bone to get it moving again. let me kow how the shooting goes.

Thanks for the welcomes, and the banter... New Zealand was the coldest three winters of my life, but not because of the outside temp. They tend to build houses as if they were in Trnidad & Tobago (ie: Very little insulation, no central heating). It was only down to maybe 5 deg C outside, but inside was 5 to 6 an DAMP. Cuts to the bone man, just nuts!

My brother and I have already been out for ducks several times this year, so damn right just back in time. I'm attaching a couple of photos of the girls and an NZ one just to keep everyone happy. *smiles*

Looking forward to deer too!

P.S. I think I've got the type wrong on the SKS; I believe it's a type 56... We'll have to see. *smiles*
