i have a new springfield g.i. 1911 .45 and i took it to the range for the 1st time yesterday. i shot about 15 rounds and it jammed alot on me. it ejected the case nice, but didn't chamber the new cartridge all the way. it was only going in the chamber about half way. i was shooting factory loads too, so does anyone have an idea as to what is wrong and how i can fix it? thanks.

Have you claned/oiled the feeding ramp? it may just be a matter of a tiny drop of oil on the feeding ramp. Otherwise, it may be that your springfied just doesnt like that brand / kind of ammo. try a different brand and see what happens.

My guess would be the extractor has to much tension. Take the slide off the frame, take the barrel out, and see if it takes a little bit of force to slide a cartrige rim under the extractor(don't mater if its loaded round or not). Also if you manualy push forward on the slide, will it chamber the round properly? I would say have a gunsmith adjust the extractor, but you should learn how to yourself, because 1911's need extractor tuning now and then.
