SVT 40 ( 1941 Tula factory, 4 digit serial number, force matched on a few part's, no sniper notch ) 880 rounds of chinese surplus 7.62x54r, and one other item that isn't in the photo, a 10 Lbs box of reactive targets ( boom stuff ) ordered from Marstar.ca

Now you need to invest in a really good hearing protection! LOL!
I love my SVT40, it is so ###y and so powerful! I am sure you gonna love yours too. One more time: hearing protection....

Very nice! From the photo I take it you've had it out shooting already? How was it accuracy wise? And did you have as much fun as I usually have when I bring mine out?

Hearing protection gets a second nod from me.

But the giggle factor of an SVT40 more than makes up for it...can we say sks on steroids? lol

I love the SVT 40 already. it plus my No4 Mk1 are two of the milsurp rifles that I have wanted for a long time. the others will come along in due time, although one may take longer to get ( this one being an M1 Garand ).

I hear you on the hearing protection. as I have the Mk4No1 an sks, a 12 gauge pump action shot gun and a more modern 30-06, I understand the need of proper hearing protection. once I have time to get a full day at the range. I will be able to get a better understanding of the old girl, and will have a better set of pictures.

You're going to have a grin from ear to ear after a day at the range with it, I wear plugs and muffs for hearing protection and it's still loud. Last time I was out was as a guest of a member of a local range, we were both shooting svt40's at one point. The sound of alternating fire from two svt's was something awesome.

If you have any friends south of the border let them know that:

a) You got one.
b) How much you paid for it.

Instant envy from them. Thanks to Clinton era import bans, SVT's are unobtanium south of the border. And if you do find one, they cost big money.

Even worse is the ones that do come available in the US, half the time Bubba's kept it in his damp cellar letting it rust and seize up before taking in to the pawn shop. I'm convinced the poor reputation for reliability surplus SVT's have comes from poor treatment of the few available copies that American gun writers have access to.

Treat it right, and it'll be a champ for you.

What's all this talk of hearing protection... I can't hear you over the ear-shattering kaboom produced by my SVT !!!

Seriously though, congrats on getting an SVT. These Russian surplus semis are awesome.

So far I've put about 200 rounds through mine (Chicom and Bulgarian surplus) and she did not disappoint.

I believe SVTs are the coolest and most badass of the WWII semi-automatic rifles.

Enjoy yours !!!

Great rifles- my favorite for shooting by a long shot. The whole design is logical and efficient and, if you try, you can get accuracy that's comparable with most other real (ie with a history of combat useage) military rifles. But as far as noise is concerned, they don't sound any different to me (through muffs) than .303 or 30-06.

Oh, and don't forget to accessorize...

Must haves:

1. Bayonet
2. Correct sling
3. Correct mag pouch (they tend to come with the Mosin stripper clip pouches, not the 2 magazine leather pouch that was issued with them back in the day)
4. 2 spare magazines.

The extras will cost more than the rifle did, but a purdy gurl deserves all the finery.

Older pic. I've since acquired the needed 2 spare mags:

Most deffinatley agree with you, I want at least 3 more magazines , a bayonet , the tool for adjustments and taking it down and the sling.
It did come with the proper magazine pouch, so I don't need to look for one

Thanks for the heads up on those bayonets, just ordered one!

Also, OP: The Tula factory was under siege during 1941. Your rifle may have come out the factory door firing. One of my SVTs is a 41 Tula and the thing has a ghost in it. I'm not a big believer in ghosts, but that thing is cranky and cantankerous and has a ghost in it.

Old post I know, but the newest one in search I've found - looking for a bayonet too for my newly acquired SVT, anyone with leads (none at Corwin right now) want to help a brother out!

Check the EE. There's usually a couple up there most of the time. If not post a WTB, someone will help you out.
