So after several weeks of waiting for parts to slowly get here I pretty much got it finished up last night.
Here are the pics of my new toy. Only thing left to add are a set of Emtan BUIS and a S&J comp that are on their way.

As for the sight i love it so far it points easily and has great clear glass. i tried my buddies eotech but their reticule messes with my eyes maybe its my glasses? so this works just fine for what i need it to do.

Thanks you guys. My only issue other than not getting to shoot it yet is when cycling the action I have 2 old colt mags that the bolt catch won't engage all the time when empty. So it seems a worn follower or week mag spring doesn't work well on this particular rifle. On my Colt sporter they work fine. All my LAR pistol mags and new colt mags seem fine. Time to pick up some pmags and give them a try.

That looks great! I've decided I want to build a shorty ar too. Still trying to choose between 7.5" and 10.5" barrel. I'd like to hear how your's shoots, and how well the flash hider or comp works with such a short barrel.

Its the issue with bolt catch tab being too short! I had the same problem with my NEA 10.5(wont take my brand-new pmags but have no problem with 10 rnds C-product mags). I ordered colt bolt catch(a bit longer) from brownells. I will let you know the result once I received it,should be this week cuz its sitting at CBSA as we speak :(

The issue is likely with your BAD lever. I had the same problem -- half the time, bolt won't hold open on last round shot. Didn't matter what brand and type of mags used. Problem went away as soon as I got rid of the BAD. I want to put it back on, but need to figure out a way to adjust it. For whatever reason, on my AR, my bolt release isn't liking it.

X2^ The BAD lever is crap .... Had the same issues with my AR , the bolt would not hold open half the time on empty and sometimes it would hold open before it was empty, causing malfunctions .. Then i watched footage of a Tactical Response fighting rifle class one day and the instructor was telling all the students to get rid of those damn things now before he would continue the class because of the issues they cause .. Took mine off not one issue since , love Magpul stuff but the BAD is a flawed idea , the designer of the AR never intended there to be something hanging off the bolt catch like that .

I think you're right about this. The more I read up on it, the more I understand that the device, as ingenious and simple as it is, just doesn't work the same for every lower. I run a Noveske lower, and most owners seem to have the same problem. My buddies have Stag lowers, and they love their BAD lever, no problems. M4chef, I think we are in the same boat. Dude, return it for a refund, and get a couple boxes of .223 instead.
