My new (used) Brno #5!!!-aka The "LASER BEAM" (image heavy)

Hi Folks!!!

Just thought I'd show some pics of the AWESOME 1958 Brno #5 I picked up last weekend!

I have dubbed her the "Laser

She sports a Redfied Olympic front sight and Parker Hale rear sight.

The reason I've dubbed her the "Laser Beam" is because of the crazy groups I shot my first day at the range with it.

So, bearing in mind that I've only been shooting seriously for about 5 weeks now, and that I've only put about 200 rounds through this gun in total, check out these groups!!

Shot at 25 yds, after about 50 rounds through a sparkling clean bore,

And these were shot at 50yds, after about 150 (or so) rounds through the bore (the target on the left is about 30% smaller than the right one),

All I can say is... *WOW*

I'd love to find out more information on this gun if anyone could point me in the right direction. I'd love a parts explosion, history, anything! I've tried scanning the net for anything about Brno #5's and I'm having a dickens of a time getting results.

Also it would be great if anyone has info on the Parker Hale sight (model #or literature), because, frankly I'm lost in the finer details of it.

Nice rifle...too bad for me, it wasn't available in a lefty. :(

Pretty impressive groups at 50 yards with only a diopter. My 10/22RR can shoot similar groups in stock form, but I have a 3-9x32 scope on it...so it's a bit like cheating.

Would love to see what your rifle can do at 100 yards though...that's the distance where my 10/22's groups start to really spread.

Congrats on the score.

Yes, number #5's are the shiznit. I love mine. It shoots groups just like yours with almost any type of ammo. It is in the 'never sell' pile for sure. Here it is:

I'm looking for a reasonably accurate rifle for my 16-year-old who's shown an interest in the local Junior League.

This one sounds reasonably accurate :) Plus it has nice sights.

Good lord K98! The awe-spectacular-some!

I'd like to try a #1 and a #4...

And yes, this #5 is definitely in the "never sell unless it means you get to sleep with Angelina Jolie" pile.
