I met a guy who is rebuilding a WW1 Sopwith Pup replica for display. After a bit of a chat, I found he did not have a gun to go with it. So, for the sake of my hobby I decided to build a replica for him. It was made in about 25 hrs out of odds and ends I had lying around. Basic wood structure clad in sheet metal. Size is pretty close to spec. The cocking-charging handle was from door parts and the ammo belt was canvas strips I glued together. For the purists, the ammo is spent 30-06. I know, I know. It should be 303 but I hoard that stuff. And I had a lot of 308 bullets that I rarely use to complete the dummies.
The charging handle is spring loaded and feels like it is operating. Gives the kids something to play with. I had a lot of fun building it and will post pics when it is mounted.
