I got myself a Savage Arms mk 11f, a bolt action iron sight rifle to work with the fundamental. Shot 525 rounds the first and only time at local range, hit the resetting targets 25 yards 8 out of 10 times at the end of the day.

Thinking to buy one more firearm before heading out again, what should I buy next (and the next, and the next after the next)??

Budget: spend or save $100/month for this hobby, incl guns & ammo purchase.

a. Marlin 60 w/ scope
b. Henry lever .22lr
c. SKS / Mosin nagant + a crate of 7.62
d. M-93 woodsman
e. 9mm (NP 22/M&P/Glock17/SR9)
f. .223 / M-14s
g. cheapie 12g for zombie bears on Dec. 2012
h. CZ 858 / DA Wheel gun / SxS (I love the looks on these!)

Not planning on hunting or competition or reloading. Just want to start this hobby wisely, not diving head first like my past expensive hobbies..... :D

I think you would probably enjoy the SKS the most. Just keep in mind you will have to strip and clean it thoroughly after each session with surplus ammo. It's a pain in the ass but once you know how to do it correctly it is pretty quick.

Hehe nice to see another newbie with the fever! Going through the mid life crisis, myself and a few buddies all got our pals and some rpals and are targeting. I lean toward the milsurps. They are fairly cheap to buy and shoot with surplus ammo. I don't think i ve invested anymore than $100 a month. Although i've likely spent my year quota. Just went to a gun auction on the weekend and bought a nice sks with a draugnov stock and a nice remington wingmaster 870 12g. good deals at auctions when they come up. Now the proud owner of 2 sks, 1 israeli/czech mauser, 870 12g and mossberg tac 22. All in all less than $1200. Welcome to the sport!
