I've got an AR front sight, and a front grip that both will need a little fine tuning to fit just right, but I'm pretty happy with this little project!

got out to the range yesterday, here's a 50 and 100 yard target using cci minimags (they are the only round so far that functions flawlessly in that hotlips mag) They are 25 rounds shot fairly quickly (approx 1 second b/w shots) with crappy red dot

Looks terrific faswagon! Groupings like that are what made me switch to using a scope. :D

With all the shorty rimfires we're building, now we need someone to bring in a bunch of these $25 soft cases:

No - seriously! For my 27" Nordic, I currently use a grossly oversized 44" hard case that has to be propped up on an angle to squeeze into my car. A 32" softcase with lots of pockets for holding magazines would be just the ticket.

I think that fabsports has those, or something very similar...

Looks good. What did you use for a barrel?

Barrel is an 11.5" shaw. I picked it up through Ronin (tacshot.ca) Don't think he has any more, not sure if he's getting more. fabsports has a couple short barrel options though, and provided me with the handguard and end cap

I grabbed a ~40 inch soft case from a local paintball place that I use for my "tacticool" firearms, the nordic actually fits in the front pouch, which I think is designed to hold 2 hand guns, so I can double up the guns in this case :D

You ever consider putting the shotgun's optic on the Nordic build? That's the kind of red dot I have in mind.

Oh, and I ordered my AR22 kit. You evil enabler...

ha! glad to see you're on board!! I knew you'd be joining in the fun! I think I'll get another cheapo reflex sight like my grizzly's for the nordic, or I may get a "tactical" 4x scope to get a little better accuracy at longer ranges

FASWAGON : i see you got the latest version of the 10/22 w/ the ext mag release...i bought one of the new versions today without the front barrel band.. my trigger housing rattles but the action is tight in the stock...how was yours before you tore it down?

Go with the 4x scope - you'll start to enjoy how accurate these can be. We basically have the same gun and I shot these this weekend. 4x scope (parallax fixed at 100 yards), stock 8lbs Ruger trigger, and from a sturdy bench but not using any bags. The holes are kinda hard to see because I photocopied them and didn't think to put a different colored sheet behind first. That's a quarter next to the targets to help with the scale. I didn't feel like I pulled any shots so I'll blame the fliers on the bulk pack ammo I was using. :D

yeah, maybe if I get creative I'll get an 30rd AR mag, gut it, and build a "shroud" of sorts for the butler creek one... to satisfy the haters ;)

Now that's better. Anyone who knows me knows I like things with shrouds.

I wasn't trying to deficate on anyone's parade... just speaking my opinion... everyone knows the skinny mag looks funny on a black looking rifle.

What is the OAL?

OAL with out flash hider, and stock on shortest setting is about 26.25"

not bad at all, I really didn't notice any rattles or issues, but I had it torn down about 30 sec out of the box. The only thing I did find was the stock barrel was incredibly tight in the reciever, it took a rubber mallet, and a padded bench vice to pop it out.

That's what I'm going to do, I think I'll appreciate it much more that way. Nice groups by the way. What scope are you using by the way?

I hope to tighten the groups up even more by experimenting with different ammo, some trigger work, and of course more practice.

The scope I'm using is a Leapers. Because it has no adjustments beyond windage and elevation, it is very light. I love it - the optics are every bit as good as my Bushnell elite 4200. The parallax is obviously an issue though. If I could custom build a scope, I would want a fixed 10x with a side AO, but I haven't found any like that yet.

Although a tad heavier and longer than I would like, I'm sorely tempted to try this 10" long Leapers scope:
