So Decided to buy a Norinco CQ and do her up, I know a lot of people do not like Norinco but I have found for my needs that they work great, Especially on a low budget.

So far I have done the following to her.

1. Magpul Maid Grip

2. Magpul Maid Battery Core

3. Magpul hand guard

4. Magpul CTR

5. Armalite M-15 Carbine Receiver tube (milspec)

6. Eotech (fake eotech)

7. Pmag Gen 2

Waiting to show up still:

1. Magpul BAD Lever

2. Magpul AFG2 - Angled Fore Grip

3. MOE 9-Slot Polymer Picatinny Rail Section

4. Magpul ASAP Ring

5. Magpul Trigger guard

6. Magpul REAR FLIP UP SIGHT GENERATION 2

Going to Buy a Magpul Sling MS3...

I think after that I should be some what happy :)

Here are some pics. Did everything I could in Black.

Looks good so far! Norinco is fine for what we can do in canada with an ar. You're only gonna be shooting paper at the range. The money you saved will pay for the mods you did

Thanks Russell, and Themikea. I have only ever had one problem with a Norinco product ever in my life, So I really think for the price you pay, they are a great deal. And yes all I will be doing is going to the range. So really this is all I need.

A word of caution about the BAD lever - they have a history of not working in the Norinco rifles, there have been a couple of threads heree about that.

Thanks for the heads up, If it does not work I'm not really worried about it. Bought it just cause, and was cheap enough that I won't be mad about it.

Interesting. Never heard that before, and have seen Norinco rifles working fine with them. Curious as to what would cause any problems with the BAD lever operating the bolt catch/release.

I just bought a CQ off EE as well. I actually only needed the barrel assembly..but for the price..
I hear they hold decent groups considering their maker. The rifle I bought is coming with an Armalite BCG...I would think that would make a lot of difference.
As for all those mods...they're all kickass, and they could be transferred to another AR if you chose to do so.

My plan eventually is to build a piston upper...but I'm on a budget.
So for now, Marstar has 10" free-float quad rails for $119. That with a $40 low-profile gas block gives you all the rail you need in a free-float setup. For $175 shipped? That's my plan for this CQ 10.5" barrel and the RRA upper it's going on.

Then you can get your AFG under the gas block, and an MBUS front sight on top. I know you've already put a Magpul fore-end on it, but those things go quick on EE.
Just something to kick around!

One thing i have noticed, is that My hand rail is not a good fit, Seems that the Norinco is a bit too snug. not sure what im going to do probably have to replace the nut, as when i go the the range the thing wants to come apart.........

So I think I'm done now.

3. Magpul hand guard

4. Magpul CTR

5. Armalite M-15 Carbine Receiver tube (milspec)

6. Eotech (fake eotech)

I like my Norc CQs. The first one I bought is pretty nice apart from a brutally gritty and stiff fire selector switch.

The second one I bought used and the selector is much nicer. Maybe because it's broken in? I dunno...
