My Norinco Type 97 Shorty - Range Report Post # 80!!!!

The dent in the brass is no problem.
The bigger issue is how does the extractor rim look?
The AK is notorious for crap-kicking the rim.
If the gun has a spring button ejector in the bolt, it should be OK.
If it has a fixed ejector in the receiver like the AK series, it will demolish the rim.

For me it's just not an issue, and I sure wouldn't hunt with a Type 97. Besides, a long whippy barrel ruins the look. It's a bullpup, it's meant to be short and to piss off liberals.

Edit: I should be more clear - the laws for restricted and non are beyond rediculous - I just don't let it influence my purchases.

Cool pic- not much new to report. I have run about another 200 rounds through the gun with no failures. I did have a problem with Sh!tty UMC ammo with bad crimps. I had one round (that I know of) push the bullet half way into the case.The rifle didn't fail to feed or chamber the round but I heard something weird when I chambered the round and ejected it to find out. I have no doubt that it would have fired it. I had no problems with any of the other 80 rounds off UMC I ran through the rifle that day. The UMC stuff grouped terrible and after some searching I found many reports that UMC ammo has weak crimps. I guess you get what you pay for. I've tried about five other brands of ammo through the rifle with zero other problems. It's primary diet is American eagle.

Another thing I notice is that the Gas Booster does collect a lot of crud. You really need to take a wire bush to it to get out. I'd really like to run the gun until it fails from being dirty but I just can't bring myself to leave it dirty at the end of a range session.
