I promised ThePunisher that I wold post some pictures of my build, but though I would do it here in order not to hi-jack his thread. As follows are some pictures of my Norinco HP9-1 build.

To start, I removed the dimples and put on a TacOrd +1 ext, and high-vis green Vang comp anti-bind follower, and a TacStar 6 shell side saddle (not in the picture).

I have swapped out the softer Norinco bolt for a hard chromed wingmaster one I had in the parts bin.

I have stoned the rails on the fore-end assembly (careful not to round them) but plan to smooth them some more by using lapping compound (280 grit). I have then stoned & smoothed the hammer (very rough), and treated both the action and barrel with Microlon Gun Juice. Gun Juice is an incredible product, and well worth the $’s spent.

For furniture I want to use an express butt stock and an old somewhat worse for wear old style police fore-end. I was having issue getting the wood fore-end to fit. I did not want to crack the fore-end, so I used a metal tube, duct tape and some sandpaper to open up the fore-end whole and now she fits like a glove (Thx MBP).

Its my plan was to re-finish the stock with a burnt burgundy stain and finish in tung oil and a protective coat of furniture paste, however the bulk of the Project had been traded to a new home.

Well I have rattled on longer than intended. Appreciate all of you time and hope you have some thoughts and comments to share.

regards and all the best

The gun looks great! I'm not a fan of wood, but in the last little it has been growing on me...

The only other thing I noticed, was your comment regarding the bolt...

It's the first time I ever heard of swapping out the norinco bolt on a shotgun... Did you have a particular reasoning behind it?

Cheers

Jay:

There were a couple of reasons actually. The first was purely esthetics, as I find the chrome bolt is set off very nicely against the mat finish of the HP9. Second, IMHO the rem chrome bolt is much harder ,durable, has better springs, and a firing pin is of higher quality than that of the HP9. (This bolt came from a gun mfg in the mid 1970's, my favorite era for quality rem parts)

Hope this helps

Gents:

Thank you for all the kind comments. I know this one really does not look that impressive as all the work has been done on the inside as opposed to the outside.

Hec, I have not even had a chance to shoot her, and already she has found a new home.

Mr. Sherlockbonez.

I would Chat up casey at TacOrd, you might be surprised how affordable a bolt can be!!

I was going to post saying to let me know if you were going to sell it. I've been caught up in the plastic/tactical trend, but that is one good looking shottie. Nice job. Old school indeed.

Well, if she was sticking arround, I wold do just that!! But alas I finish polishing the action last night and now she's off to her new home!!

Ah well, time to start another one.
