My RFB landed today... more than a few pics

... i notice you have steel cased ammo, i heard that was a big no no for this one. i was pretty peeved when i heard that...

He does not have steel cased ammo, that's nickel-plated brass.

It will be interesting to see if the warnings against steel cases have any merit, or if it's just manufacturer CYA text.

Brordo Where in BC are you i'd be happy to bring some coffee and ammo and maybe some after shooting beers to give the rfb a couple shots

Lower Mainland...I mostly shoot at the Poco range (though I'm starting to think Mission might be a better way to go)

wicked! really want to get one of these. I cant wait to hear the range report. also i notice you have steel cased ammo, i heard that was a big no no for this one. i was pretty peeved when i heard that, what does it say about that. id lvoe to shoot that through because of the pirce but was worried when i heard there being problums with it.
Where do you see steel case ammo? The ammo in the mag is winchester silvertip

On another not, I decided to take a look on the inside of the RFB, and really don't like using bullets as a take-down tool... So I grabbed a chunk of Delrin, and a few minutes on the lathe... Voila

Take-down tool with bullet tip and small punch on the opposite end.

Any chance you want to make another one of those?

Screw holding left hand bolt release tab was loose on mine as well. Anyone else noticing this trend. All other screws were tight.

I'm going to check mine today.

Stormtrooper, what brand of scope is that? Are they expensive? I ended up putting a Bushnell elite 6500 2.5-16x44 on mine. It's a little large but works great. I wouldn't mind getting another PEPR mount and putting a 1-4 on it for hunting in the bush.

I bought mine new at Epps and they had the lowest price I've seen so far and I got lucky and slipped through without the waiting list.

If your interested PM me and I'll tell you where you can get 5/20 and 5/30 mags for it. Can't link them on the open forum.

Also thanks for posting the measure pic of your mag as well as that it falls out of the rifle.

I have been fighting with mine since I got my rifle and mine is .998". I must have had it in/out of the rifle last night at least 200 times and I can now get it to insert and drop out but 1 in 10 times it really seams to bind and I have to force it into the rifle or really PULL to get it out. I can't seem to see anything different from that 1 moment than the other 9. I will have to try and see if the dealer can get me a replacement mag.

I can't wait for my thermold mags to get here.
