can i join w.e your doing too i need a better job, but if i were you i wouldnt want to wear a red shirt specially in a gunfight. And nice colletion

Manoman!!
You guys are making me soooo jealous!
I love my 858's but I would trade them in a heartbeat for an AK of any sort.
My wife's distant cousin in Great Falls, MT has an AK-74 he uses as his "truck gun". Sent me recent pictures of him shooting badgers with it in the plains of Montana. Normal cap mags, too. All while packing his 4" S&W 686. It makes my blood boil that we can't do that here because stupid politicians decreed for everyone's safety we can't own and enjoy certain firearms responsibly.

Why AK's with underfolder? They're terribly uncomfortable to shoot.

They can be, but inside the trucks doing convoy escort etc they are good, full stock are way too cumbersome in the vehicles. The comfortability of shooting is not an issue, being able to cover your arcs effectively is worth it :D

I wear the Red shirt in the compound when I do training, wouldn't wear it running the roads here for sure.

ex Mil, PSD, Close Protection and of course a Gunnut.

You should go down and get some rounds in with that AK before you get willing to drop that CZ. A mate of mine that I did a course with in the states has owned 3 different AK's, 1 romanian, 1 Asenal and 1 other one. For years he didnt even know what a vz58 was. Then he shot one and was like "why dont i own this?"

Things such as:
-bolt hold open
-shorter stroke on the charging handle
-milled receiver
-lighter weight [depending on AK brand]
-better stock trigger than similar costed AK

all play a part when it comes to the CZ being a 'finer' fashioned firearm. The real way to tell is to take a weekend carbine fighting course with and AK and then with a CZ. Pop an ambi mag release on the CZ and you will have a way easier time on that course.

And the odd, odd, odd time that #### goes up hill and an AK or CZ jams it's nice to be able to look right into the receiver on the CZ and get #### fixed. This is a touch tougher with the ejection port of the ak.

I would own the #### out of an AK, if i could, but after having put 800-1000 rounds through a decent brand; I'd keep my CZ over it any day. In case of zombies I'll take the CZ.

I guess for me it's the "forbidden" factor the AK introduces that makes me desire one. You made some really good points, though. I am definitely happy I own my 858's. They've been good truck/bush guns. :)

You've never heard the pirate joke where the captain asks the cabin boy to go fetch his red shirt before battle?

There are things I like about the AK, and things I like about the VZ-58. I see a few VZ-58's here in Kabul and of couse almost everyone and his goat has an AK-47. Back home I prefer my VZ, but over here in Kabul I prefer the AK... almost an unlimited source of parts and ammo.

Its funny that some people dont realize that AK will hold open on an empty mag, one of my team mates got upset that all of our do... kept grumbling that he never saw that in 8 years in Iraq as a PSD, so I guess it depends on make, mags, and a little dirt maybe.
