So my Ruger Mark III 22/45 stainless 5 1/2 inch barrel arrived today from wholesalesports. About two weeks after I ordered it. I actually got my ATT before the pistol, which seems strange to me.

Anyway, took it to the range. I had previously watched a few videos on youtube on shooting techniques, so I started with those techniques. After about 500 shots my thumb hurts (ruger magazines!) and I am starting to improve in shooting. Can't wait to get my ultimate cliploader which is in the mail somewhere between BC and St. John's. :)

Had about 5 fail to fires (duds) out of the box of federal 525. There was a couple of times where the slide didn't go forward right away after a shot. But it moved forward on its own just from the motion of me moving it to have a closer look. I don't know what could have caused this, maybe the edge of the bullet catching on something as it was being fed. Pretty happy with the reliability though. :)

OMG PICS!

I can't shoot mine offhand accurately no matter what.
I guess the skinny grip is the problem. I can shoot 9mm and 357mag accurately but not the 22.
I put a red-dot on the 22 only to confirm my aim-point wanders around.
By supporting the hand I can get one inch 10 shot groups at 10yds.

It was interesting to find out that someone else finds that loading the Ruger mags is hard on the thumbs. I thought maybe I was having a problem because I'm a woman with 'dainty" little fingers....lol

I read several posts where people said it was hard on the thumbs. I just assumed they weren't very tough until I tried it myself. :)

But don't worry. There is help!

Canada ammo has them for 30 bucks.

Interesting little gadget. I may look into getting one..... Thanks for the tip.

A friend gave me a custom made wood piece that slides over the mag so that you push down on the wood (instead of the metal). I no longer end up with a blister after a few hours of loading/shooting.

Very nice...you'll enjoy your new toy. I've been using my .22 Ruger MarkIII Target for close to a year now they are accurate and loading the magazine isn't so bad after awhile. ;)

I've got the exact same gun, and I love it.

I've fed it 8 or 10 different kinds of .22LR, and all of them work fine(Many other .22 pistols are fussy about the ammo they work well with)

It's an incredibly accurate gun, I can make unbelievably tight groups.

But, is a little tougher to clean than most of my other handguns in that the tear down is more of a headache.

And, I did have the front site loosen on me, but nothing that a little locktite and a screw driver couldn't fix.

But, I like the fact that it weighs roughly as much as my larger caliber guns, as I think that helps me get more accustomed to holding a full weight pistol at full arm extension.

I did a lot of research before buying it way back when and since that time I've tried many other .22's. Yet, I'm still really happy with my Ruger Mark III 22/45 stainless 5 1/2 inch barrel. And, I'm not the kind of person to praise a gun just because I own one. Performance counts and if I had found something that I thought was better, even if it cost a lot more I would have bought it.

The Mags are nick named THUMB BUSTERS for a reason. LOL. The Ultimate Clip loader works real well. Wife loads her 3 Mags in no time, and saves her thumbs from harm.

2nd day, about 1000 rounds through it so far. This gun is a shooter. :)

This is why 22LR is awesome. 1000 rounds of any other caliber woulda been a bit on the pricey side. :p

Take a hike

If you have nothing to contibute why bother.

Go away

Oh...maybe I do get it...nothing to contribute but a cheap way to bump your post count?

Whatever...go away...

I own a blue version of the same pistol. Very accurate! One or both hands. Last time out I put a red dot on it and was popping earplugs. Lots of fun.

I don't get the comments on loading? I just slide the loading button down and no problem:confused:

I just bought a used mark II, I can't wait to pick it next week. It had about 200 rds through it its a blue with a bull barrel. I hear good things about them.
