I was going to re-barrel my Savage but not before I tried the Elley ammo I purchased during the holiday sales.
Previously I was disappointed by various premium ammo (Federal, Aguilla and Elley Team).
This is all 100m because the 50yard lanes were busy.

I'm impressed by the "sport"
I will try the same at 50y to confirm the groups.
Should be good

I think the Eley Match gave you better results. The vertical spread is less than the Eley sport. The bigger horizontal spread on the Eley Match Vs the Sport could very well be the wind. .22 bullets get blown around pretty good in the wind so I wouldn't call that one shot that is slightly out of the group a flyer. Take that one shot out of the group and measure it again.

You have a point.
I'll re-do the test another day to confirm the groups.
I really wish the Sport performs because it can be had at 1/3 the price of Match.

Great shooting! Assuming the results duplicate, i would not pay the extra $'s for the match for just 22thou. Honestly would not pay the extra even for 1/4", but that's just my Scottish ancestry :)
cheers

I have been disappointed with the groups from my Savage Mk II with A variety of Winchester, Remington and Federal ammunition. I was really disappointed with the Federal Match and I was starting to think the rifle was just not capable. After seeing your groups and similar results with the Federal ammo I think I with give Eley Match and Sport a try if I can find some. Thanks for posting the targets.

Just curious, what were your plans for re-barreling?

I was going to go for a Dlask 16" barrel.

The good is they're good barrels
The bad is they are meant for Ruger 10/22 and don't have the extractor grooves (can be cut with a file I've been told) and have a (unnecessary) dovetail under the barrel.

The factory barrel is pressed in the action and can be hammered out of with a large hammer and a hardwood dowel.
Then the new barrel is turned to a slight interference fit and mounted with the strongest red threadlock one can get until it bottoms on the closed bolt.
The headspace is cut in the bolt.

Interesting, thanks for the info.
