My SKS randomly double taps

Hey guys, took my recently aquired sks to shoot it's first bullets this after-noon. I shot maybe 250 rounds in the time-frame of 4 hours. At 4 different times it randomly shot 2 bullets in 1 trigger pull. Was it because it was miscleaned before using?

I need to find the solution to this i would not want the firearm to start going auto on me.
 
Take out the bolt and check that the firing pin is moving freely. Should hear it shaking around. You might have to take the pin out and clean it more thoroughly. Just make sure to put it back in the way it came out.
 
Probably what is refereed to as a 'slam fire '. Typically issues with the bolt/firing pin. Military grade rifle are constructed with the idea of firing military surplus which has a much harder primer than consumer grade ammo.
Check the pin, perhaps change your ammo if it is bothering you.
 
Alright thanks for the input. When i had stripped it, i went thru everything exept removing the firing pin from the carrier. I am new to all this so i'm still learning here. When i seperated the carrier from bolt, the firing pin was very tight inside the carrier. Like not moving very much. The retaining pin was a ##### to get out of there, i had to hammer it.

The firing pin was filled with slimmy cosmoline, at a very gunky state. I used brake cleaner spray to clean all part and firing pin channel. Dryed everything up real good. Then i put small amount of gun oil on parts before re-assembling. The firing pin now moves in carrier by just shaking the carrier in my hand.

Does everything seem normal here?
 
Yep, if it rattles its clean. But I would be very very careful with oiling the firing pin. Oil attracts dust like flies on a turd. Never had a slam fire myself but I gaurantee you Id be changing my pants if I did. I like firing auto.........but when I want to not when the gun wants to eh LOL
And like they say , its a military weapon and some of the civvy ammo is a bit girly for it.

Thank you all this was rapidly resolved. But i must admit that it's too bad that it's illegal having it double tap. It's very impressive the speed at wich the second bullet comes out. But since i want to keep my sporting goods / habits legal, i just had to find this easy fix to it.

The part holding the firing pin is the bolt, the carrier is the part you pull back to #### the rifle:) Its better to not oil the firing pin as others nutz have stated.

i know you said cosmoline was the problem, but just in case others have the same problem, i have also seen a rifle with a burr on the firing pin, removed it, smoothed it with a file and all was well.
 
While I have not had a slamfire, I did instal a murrays firing pin with a spring. So far I have twice had to replace the spring due to primers getting inside the FP chamber. Then I realised that the FP hole in the bolt was extruded outwards. Lightly filed it down flush with a small diamond file. If that doesnt work its back to the russian FP.
