My sks with corrosive ammo and VERY dirty. What to do ?

nobody uses wd40?

Beat me to it. I squirt some down the barrel, run the rod with supplied brush back and forth about a dozen times, a patch or two, and then clean the gas tube and piston with wd40 as well. Takes about 5 minutes, and I don't have any problems with rust. The way I figure it, is that the SKS was designed to be maintained by an illiterate Russian peasant on the battlefield, so it's a lot tougher than most of us give them credit for. One of mine was given to me with the gas piston seized into the tube so hard that I had to use a hammer and punch to get it out. Now it works just fine again, and I don't feel too ashamed if I don't clean it the same day. After all, the previous owner left it for a few months without cleaning after shooting corrosive ammo in it.

Hey dude whas up! u get any new toys yet ? I know ones just not enough the sickness just grows lol.. For corrosive ammo i pour a mixture of simple green and hot water down the bore then just a rinse of straight hot water , i use a trans fluid funnel so i dont get water allover my gun . Then i spray a good shot of WD40 down the bore and run a old boresnake through a few times .. Process takes me 10 min at most , never had a bore rust this way ... I do a more detailed clean with solvents every 1000 rounds or so to remove copper fouling ..
