Hi guys, I thought i'd just share this. My son accidentally got a new gopher gun! He has a marlin .17M2 bolt action, but he wanted something that was semi-auto for a long time. I got him a Mossberg 715t flat top a couple years back, but it was ultimately junky, and I sold the package. So the story goes like this.... I had been looking for a new(er) Ruger 10/22 barrel, receiver trigger pack, so I could build another custom tactical type rig, just for fun, and I came across a place selling RIA 10/22 bare barrel/rec/trigger, no stock for 130.00 or so, so i went there one day, while working in the city, and picked one up. I got it, threw it in the truck and continued work. Well, when I got home,( hour + from the city) I opened the box to inspect my purchase, and low and behold, the guy sold me the wrong package. I got the whole gun, with stock. (130.00). So, i check it out, and damn, if its not real nice. My son checks it out and falls in love with it, and I decide im not gonna cannibalize this thing, He can have it for gopher's.

Now, he needs a scope. I didnt want to get a 40 dollar bushnell/tasco, so I look here, and I manage to find something decent. he likes zoom, the more the better (he's a kid!).. But front focus is kinda too hard for him, so side focus, or no parallax focus is what I wanted, but i didnt want to spend 5-600 fo a zeiss, or anything.... i managed to find a Hawke 3-12x 44 SF, looks brand new, from a good guy here. He even waited till he needed to go south and met me close to where I live to drop it off! Awesome guy!

So ultimately, I got my son a new RIA 10/22 and scope for exactly 300.00 all said and done. Decent! and here, ill share a pic. As soon as it gets nicer out, stops snowing (ouch!) Ill go out with him to zero it in.

Its always nice to put something decent together for a good price.... :)

Nice package, but the fact that you would not have contacted the seller to point out/correct the error leaves a sour taste in my mouth.

Also, your young man will be following your example.....so is it a desirable example?

Just saying. Dave.

50/50, sometimes you get screwed over, other times you get lucky. I've returned wallets, food, and many other things I've found or got in error. At the end of the day maybe things balanced out for you...

Regardless your kid has a nice gun with a good scope that should provide many years of gopher hunting.

darn think from the other side, the seller made a mistake, should have checked but things happen, myself I would contact the seller and let him know what happened and see what the difference will be, if not agreeable go swap it for the one you should have had, what about the poor buyer figured he gets a complete rifle and just gets parts,

karma always comes back and bites us, nice rifle just not what you figured you were getting,

When I figured out who was selling this, I thought a barreled receiver would be a great way to reclaim my Ruger 10/22 that I had set up in the TacStar chassis for my 10 year old nephew to shoot.

It bolted right in (supplied bolt was too short) and the trigger is actually pretty good given the price point. I shot 15 rounds with the included Butler Creek mag and no problems were encountered.

I guess I got a new gopher rig too!
