i have a new springfield g.i. model 1911 and it doesn't chamber the rounds well. it will shoot fine for a couple of shots, but there is always at least one round per magazine that doesn't want to. i cleaned it before i even shot it to make sure it was ready to shoot, so i knew it was good. i've had this problem since i got it and can't figure it out. annoying would be an understatement. accuracy is amazing though. i hope someone has the solution for this. thank you.

Are you using factory ammo or reloads. Take the barrel out an try dropping the rounds into the barrel to see if they go. They should go in easily. Make sure they do not stand taller than the barrel extension. Take the slide off and check the extractor, it plays an important part in the feed cycle of a 1911. You should be able to slide a round under the extractor (WITH THE SLIDE OFF THE RECEIVER) and it should stay fairly horizontal. In a 1911 the rounds slide up the breach face the extractor does not snap around them. Never load a 1911 by dropping a round in the barrel and closing the slide. And of course check the mags, does it do it with all of them or just one?

What type of bullet are you using? The 1911 feed round nose the best. Are you using 7, 8 or 10 round mags? The more rounds you put into a single stack mag the bigger the gap gets between the top round in the mag and the round under it. The slide hits the round and it nose dives into the feed ramp. Where in here does it happen?
The slide goes back, with the empty casing on the extractor, it hits the ejector, it flies out, the slide hits full back, at the same time, the top round on the magazine hits the lips of the mag. The slide moves past the disconnector and the cartridge slides forward to the end of the mag lips. The cartridge clears the lips (while pointing slightly up) and slides up under the extractor. The bullet hits the feed ramp and slides up, the bullet enters the champer, the brass enters the chamber and then the slide closes completely.
