The barrel will work for this task. You also should order a .45ACP case gauge.
Rounds that are too LONG!
Hi again Chevy boy...
I have been following this thread and wanted to add one more thing. To Check your rounds you should Chamber check them. That means pull the barrel out of the gun.. insert the bullet. Because the bullet should head space on the rim of the cartridge it should slide until it hits the end of the chamber. You should then be able to easily rotate the round in the chamber if the bullet (sticking out farther) is not touching the rifling of the barrel. If the bullet is touching the rifling rotating the bullet will be more difficult and you will be able to notice marks on the bullet.
As far as those bullets that are too long.. You should be able to get a seating die and push the FMJ bullets to the correct COL. I have done that for a friend that purchased some remanufactured 9 mm rounds that would not cycle in his/her pistol. They too were too long. I just "miked" the rounds and found the shortes ones.. and set my die to that COL. I then just ran all the bullets through the seating die and voila they all worked.. There should be very little crimp on a 45 round so this should work.. just get a seating die and seat them to the correct COL for you Barrel. Because those bullets are FMJ you should not have to worry about affecting the bullet.
