My SVT 40 needs some parts

Not what you asked, but perhaps an alternate course of action that may be to your benefit.
Part out the rest of your svt on the EE, buy a new one with all the pieces, profit.
Keep the mag for yourself of course ... or don't it will sell for 1/3rd the price of the new gun.

Parts for svt's are scarce and if you can find them they are expensive.

That would be my approach especially if we are talking about a "common" model. If its got a perfect stock and bore though, I would consider finding the parts.

I hate to see a perfectly good rifle just sitting there so I came up with something to use as a front sight post.

The flip-side to your idea I like better would be to keep this one and buy another one. Giddyup! ;)
