I always wanted one of these since I first started decades ago, but put it off for one reason or another. As a tribute to both my paternal and maternal Grandfathers who trusted their lives with it during difficult battle times ( Mesopotania Campaign and Burma respectively) and No.1 on my want list, here's my new addition. No.1 mark III SMLE, Lithgow 1916, numbers matching with magazine cut-off and rear site windage. No volley sites though. The 1907 Pattern Bayonet is also aussie with a marking of 5 SLAZ.

No.4 Mk1 is on my list for the same reasons, just holding out for a good price and good condition but condition more than price. Holding it for storage isn't nearly the tribute that shooting the rifle is.

I will be shooting it.The bore is in VG condition .Not regurlary, but occasionally. No reason for the old girl to be a safe queen.Enuf of these from the far east to the middle east are still in use.On a different note the person who i got it from had a couple more, one marked CEF on the stock and a grenade launching one which is pretty rare
