I know there have been a pile of savage threads but I just got back from the range with my new one and I have throw in my 2 cents worth.

Gun: Savage 12BVSS
cal: 300 wsm
Scope: Bushnell legend ( I know its junk but the high ender is coming later)
load: 180 gr speers spitzers 65 gr IMR 4831

I just threw together this load for sighters and break in. I went out today to get things going on this rifle. After I got the scope dialed in I took a really solid rest and fired a three shot (100M) group out of curiosity. The three shots all overlapped. The group had to be well under a half inch. I simply could not believe my eyes. What is this gun capable of when I actually start load development with match bullets ?

Thanks for letting me share

thebuckhunter,

That is odd, I can see it though, to bad those guys have no idea that that is the very uniqure part of a Savage rifle. Oh well, I love mine and I am sure if you have one you very much like it aswell.

Cheers

I love mine. Wouldn't trade my pill pusher for anything. Getting .5 to .8" groups consistantly at 220 meters using winny white box ammo. Still developing loads for her as well. Gotta love them Savages!:D I've got a 10FPLE-1A. Sweet machine!!

Well, it will not shoot any worse :)

Bed the action including support under that barrel nut, free float the rest of the barrel, turn down the trigger as light as it will go. With collet neck sized fireformed brass, there is little issue getting it to 1/2 MOA.

Welcome, but please keep these to PM posts. Otherwise, demand may cause them to start getting as expensive as 'prettier' rifles.

What sizer die ?

i was just looking at neck sizer dies. Hornady sells a neck sizer for long and short .30 cal rounds. Would the 300 wsm be long or short ?

They are great. I have two sporters (30-06 and 223) and both are amazingly accurate, especially with handloads.
