Got back from vaca a few days ago. Had to do a course at the SIGARMS Academy but I noticed on the way down Springfield was fairly close by.

I spoke with some of the people who work there and it turned out there was going to be a guided tour of the upper floors where they store the rare items, and prototypes.

I took my course, signed up for the tour and made plans to see it on the way home.

It was AMAZING!!!

Heres the link http://www.pbase.com/mrclark/springfield_armoury_museum

Heres some pics (when the curator wasnt looking I made mad passionate love to GARAND #1)

You know, this really upsets me.

I came into work with a fresh cup of coffee and told myself that I was going to get some REAL work done today… but first I’ll check CGN…

WTF?

How am I supposed to get stuff done with you guys posting this kind of stuff?

Nice pictures and thanks for posting. That’s would have been an awesome tour.

I would have had to drag my wife kicking and screaming and likely would have had to acquiesce to visit the “shoe hall of fame” or something but it would have been worth it.

Now heres some pics of our National Armories. The top two are From the Inglis site.

The pile of mud on the right was where they mostlikely made Brens and the pile of mud on the far left of the bulldozer was where they stored them

And the bottom is Long Branch/Canadian Arsenals Limited. The clump of debris to the right of the water tower is where they made Stens I,m told.

Is this what you are referring too?

If so yes it was just sitting on one of the shelves waiting to be fondled. The stuff you see through glass in on the bottom floor. The stuff on the racks is from the pattern room.

Now the cool part is there is about 2 more floors that are not open to the public. The cool part is they will be very soon, thats were all the SMG's and SAW's will be shown.

I'll be going back thats for sure.

Incredible, an StG-45.

INGLIS. Canada SH1TS on it's past again and again. It is sad that we cannot keep pieces of our past intact like the Inglis factory, Longbranch, Mosquito factory etc. We are just a land with no history or a history that it is not PC (as the Soviets and our Red Libs used to say) to relate in case some fringe group is insluted or offended.

Great photographs of the Sprigfield Armoury pattern room. I had no idea people could visit it. Americans know how to keep their history alive. Everywhere in DC one can visit museums and government buildings and parks etc free. They encourage citizens to remember who they are and from where they came. I like that.

Nope, thats not it.

The prototype I saw pics of had the same type of selector/linkage set up as the M14.

I am trying to remember where I saw the pics........
