Well the chance came about that her brother and his lady are booked for a non-res course and he just asked his Si's (my wife) if she was interested in getting hers finally. Luckily I called the instructor and he managed to just have an extra spot open for family members!

My wife and her bro's lady are also booked in for hunting school in March too.

Now who bets she shoots a buck before I do...

I think I'll start her off with squirrel and rabbits. Maybe some ducks or geese.

Can't wait! Or can I?

How many others hunt with the loves of their lives?

My wife is my deer hunting partner. She's taken 4 deer and a bear so far. I thoroughly enjoy hunting with her & would rather take to the field with her over my guy buddies.

Enjoy! And congrats to her for taking up the sport!

Cheers

Nice!

My wife just received her PAL/RPAL last week....not sure about hunting...but she is originally a farm girl from Southern Alberta and feels no love for coyotes.... :)

She is a little nervous as she hates doing any sort of testing but I explained to her it's More an Information session for two days with a common knowledge test at the end. I explained to her that the tests are designed for 12 year olds to be capable of doing.

My girlfriend is my hunting partner.

She started with archery whitetail deer and has four deer harvested. Loves a day at the range.

And what happens in the duck blind stays in the duck blind.

Like anything new introduce her to hunting and let her decide without pressure what she enjoys.

Download the PDF files for the courses and do a dry run.. it will help her..

They are quite easy, I don't know anyone that ever scored below 90%

Be careful bringing your wife! Sometimes they'll shoot the big ones and leave you with tag soup! On a more serious note, my wife is my deer hunting partner and I think I have more fun watching her drop the hammer on a deer than I do. Good luck on your future hunts!

I've finally convinced my wife to get her PAL/RPAL, though she's not sold on the hunting bit yet.

I had her out for a walk with me for small game last fall and she didn't take too well to my dispatch of a rabbit.

Didn't mind the field dressing though & she always helps skin & process deer after my hunts.

It's been quite an adventure trying to gauge her comfort levels with this stuff.

My wife took the PAL/RPAL test with me and passed with flying colors. She was (not now) afraid of guns and actually had never even touched one before.

My wife has been shooting her whole life. Her father was a long time Hunter just never got her into Hunting. She tells me of the times shooting pistols in the back 40 when they were kids. She isn't scared of them at all just hates any formal testing.

I know when I took my courses way back the instructor made us 100% sure there was no way of failing.

If she has that kind of experience it will be a breeze, most people taking the course and tests have little to no firearm experience at all.

Maybe she's a natural Bullseye shooter at heart..

Well no wife here but I have a friend who has her trapping license and though she had only ever tried shooting a firearm once in her back 40 with her sons she took to plinking gophers like she had been doing it all her life. Absolutely deadly with my 10/22 in her hands. She shoots offhand, no rest at ranges out to 100 yards and rarely misses a shot. Even I can't shoot offhand near as well as she can!

Well she passed the PAL course with zero issues. Hopefully she has her paperwork back and sent to and from the RCMP by early May. She wants to turkey hunt!
