I picked up this nice Winchester 1897 Trench Gun serial numbered to 1943 as per an email from Bruce Canfield. The barrel is dated 1942 and the bore is very nice. Bruce also mentioned that it may have been used in later conflicts such as Korea and Vietnam as the butt stock has been replaced with one without the proper WWII Cartouches and the vented handguard is a post WWII parkerized replacement. I have a really nice bayonet for her, but I am in the process of a full detail clean and oiling of the wooden grips so I will have to post pictures of that later. I may have to try and plug the magazine so I can take it deer hunting this year!
