Mystery ammo

I got this can of ammo in an estate deal and have no idea what it contains. Dimentions are appprox 13" long, 6" wide and 4" deep. All markings are visible in the picture except a spot of red paint on the side about 3" x 3/4". Anyone seen these before?

I guess that's one way to buy ammo, sealed in a can and not knowing what it is. I'd do that myself more than likely if the price was right LOL.

X2. I have two tins of Hungarian 7.62x54r that look like that.

The only way to know for sure is to open that baby up.

If the other guys are correct, it would help if you already own a Mosin Nagant.

Hungarian 7.62x54r 1951 lead core heavy ball. Nice ammo it has yellow tips.

In the case there are *22* 20 round packs.

440 rounds in the can.
