Hi Guys (and Gals),

I received some ammo with a rifle I purchased, and I need help identifying the bullet. It's a 150gr .30 cal round nose bullet - with a yellow polymer tip. So instead of your typical 'lead' round nose, you have yellow plastic.

I've tried looking through older bullet catalogs (Nosler, etc.) and havn't been able to identify the manufacturer of this bullet. Any help would be greatly appreciated! I'll try and have a pic later today.

I remember having some .30 caliber 150 gr round nose bullets with a blue platic nose. They came in a round tin with a white palstic lid - but I don't remember who made them. I used them for reduced velocity loads in the '06.

I had soem Dominion factory ammo ten years ago for my 30-30 that had the same bullet. Yellow round plastic tip

CIL/ Imperial sabre tip. My Dad used to work at their factory down the road from where I live in Brownsburg Quebec. Was sold and became IVI and moved to Valcartier. Sure miss the factory seconds we used to get dirt cheap. 22LR by the pail.

Imperial Sabretips for the .30-30

When the factory closed my friend got a few thousand and sold me 500 of them so I could reload for my daughter`s Mod. 94 Trapper. Quite accurate and it doesn`t get all deformed like lead tips, even after multiple loadings in the rifle. A fine .30-30 bullet.

What about those delicious looking old paper CIL Imperial long range shotshells... Maxums and can't forget the Canuck heavy's? Boy those fired cases sure smelled fine!

I used to have some Dominion 30/30 shells a number of years ago, if I recall correctly they had a creamy white tip not yellow.........I still have a box of 50 CIL 'pneumatic hollow tips' I think is what they called them. They look like a full metal jacket with a dimple in the nose which is a hollow point underneath.

Update: Just yesterday I bought 500 more of these 170 gr. Imperial Sabre-Tip bullet from the same source. The plastic tips are definitely yellow in color. Paid $75 for the lot. My daughter can't wait for this fall"s deer hunt as she got her first one last year with one of these bullets.
