Hello!
I recently bought some S&W model 3000 police shotguns with skeleton folding stocks. They are, essentially, 870 Remington shotguns produced under license by Howa, in Japan. Some extra niceties include redesigned ejector and shell latch mechanisms for added reliability.
While cleaning them up, I noticed one folding stock looked like a casting instead of being welded up. On the plate receiving the buttpad, there's a logo "CM&T".
Anyone know about that manufacturer?

I think CM&T is Choate machine and Tool, the pg and adapter look the same as a CM&T I used to have...different stock piece for sure.
Cheers

If you shoot some heavy slug loads it looks like it will become a tattoo :p !
Yes, I was convinced that the stock would spotweld my cheekbone but I tried the gun with its old buttpad sunday afternoon with some good buckshot loads and more slug ones and never got banged in the face! No doubt that the good purchase afforded by the pistol grip is very instrumental in this.
The stock hinge has just the slightest outward movement and it pulls away from your face in recoil. I'll put a small sewn-on leather and neoprene foam pad at the right spot and everything will be fine and dandy.
I was surprised by the accuracy we got with just the front bead as a reference point: all the slugs grouped inside an orange size target at 20 yards.
I just can't wait to try it with a proper ghost ring rear sight with banded front sight!
Any suggestions? where in Canada?

I happen to have a S&W Mdl 3000 Police .12ga Shotgun and I must say that it has the slickest pump-action of any shotgun that I own (Rem 870 Police, Iron Horse Sentry 12, Akdas UBS 12, Keltec KSG SBS, etc). They are very much a product-improved Rem 870 with greatly reduced pump-action friction. Awesome, little-known shotguns with excellent build quality and fluid operation.

PP - are you looking to sell? I could use a folding-stock version in the collection.....
