I guess I could call around but I am obviously lazy or I would be shooting Bow, and this is more fun.My sks and Mosin plus ammo are on the way and I have yet to join a range in the Halifax area .I heard on this forum that some ranges don't allow surplus steel ammo to be fired .Does anyone have info on which ranges do allow this, cause I hope to fire enough rounds to shift the Magnetic poles a couple feet;0)
Cheers Bob

Thanks that is the one I was looking at,guess I will give them A CALL AFTER THE LONG WEEKEND I HAVE 7.62X39 SURP AMMO COMING WITH STEEL ROUNDS some places won,t allow it because of sparks!

Sparks? That's a good one! I destroy mild and hard steel without mercy. I have seen copper jackets being completely stripped off mild steel bullets. Never a single spark.

That is what guys on other threads are saying,,and in some clubs and ranges they are not allowed! Fire hazzard! Apparently you cannot see the sparks in daylight but some guys say its a light show in the dark!

Down in the U.S. many ranges do not allow
steel core ammo, it's not due to the sparks
so much, it's the ricochet and damage to
backstops etc. The range operators use a
magnet to test your ammo, if it sticks to the
tip, you don't shoot unless you buy the high
dollar commercial stuff. I have 2 1/2 hour
round trip to a range that allows the steel core.

wouldn,t that be a blast! When we were teenagers we could walk through Fairview ,rifles in hand bolt open ,ammo in our pocket .Go to the woods, fire off a hundred rounds and go back home, only thing anyone said was ,did you get anything? If someone did that now they wouldn't get a block without a swat team surrounding them! What changed?

I think it all changed when city folks decided to move to the country.
They hear gun fire and thought back to the hood.... and called 911.

Then the teenager cops all dressed up to the 9's show up, ready for infr- action.;)

Nothing really hapens in cases like these, except the cops get off wearing their fancy gear, and the target shooters get to tell them they have permission to discharge the firearms.

The moral of the story is that new "country" city folks learn to shut up, or move back to the city.:D
