Hi all,

I've got a nice SS Trojan that has a superficial scuff/light scratch on it. I once heard of a polishing product that starts with "Sol" or "Solu" something or other. Anyone ever heard of such an animal? Other suggestions are welcome as well.

Thanks in advance.

IS the gun polished or brushed? Most SS guns are brushed.

You can use OOOO steel wool, with the grain, to remove any visible scratches if it is brushed.

Do a seach on a product called "Flitz". Excellent polishing and cleaning compound. Used to use it on my 686 to remove the grunge on the front of the cylinder. Shined it up so much it looked like a "pimp gun" afterwards.:D

There is a very good metal polish called Autosol, I believe its made in Germany possibly and its available at good auto parts stores or speedshops, that might be the product you are looking for.

"Solvol Autosol." That brings back memories as I think we used to use it on our boat 40 years ago! I found a ref. online somewhere; apparently it’s been around since 1929.

X2 with Autosol, the stuff is amazing. with that and some scrubbing it'll do wonders.

also look into simichrome, really popular in the knife circles. It is a little lighter than autosol with a finer grit. Shines hugely.

That would be Autosol u are looking for...I use it all the time on my stainless SW handguns....Go to your local wallmart or Crappy tire and see if they have it...if not shoot me a pm and tell me how many tubes you want...I can probably get it with in 3 business days...

with stainless work we use scotch brite pads steel wool is bad ju ju as it will diposit carbon in the stanless and it will leave rust speckels if its polished use polishing rugue
