I've had this cartridge for a long time an never knew what it was. The diamiter of the projectile is 7mm. The diamiter of the casing is 8mm. The length of the casing is 12mm. The length of the cartridge overall is 23mm. It's rimmed like a revolver cartridge and is centerfire. No markings. Looks like some kind of cap seeing as how (counting the part inside) the bullet is longer than the casing. In the pic, it's the gray one in the middle(9x19mm left & ,22lr right).

i don't think so, Nagant revolver ammo is funny looking, doesn't look like regular ammo, has to do with the cylinder moving to seal the chamber. didn't the French field a 7.5 revolver?

I'm in Newfoundland so I must ask: What's a gunshow? :D ......:( Maybe if I was near St.John's...even then I doubt it...

The case is too short for one of the Nagant or Lebel revolver cartridges, but the proportions look right for it to be a 297/230 Morris round, a sub-caliber centrefire that was used in several variations of the Morris Adaptor. I'll measure a couple of the rounds in my collection and see if they match up.

The 250 and the 22 Morris shells can be made from shortened 22 hornet shells. The base and rim are the same but the wall thickness in the neck of the formed shell will be a few thou too thick and need to be thinned or the gun slightly rechambered.
Main point however is that if you have a 22 hornet to compare the mystery shell with, the base and rim should match.

Is that a real, live factory shell or was someone playing around a long time ago and just pop an old bullet and a cut-off case together? Doesn't look crimped, matter of fact, the mouth of the case looks very thick compared to the bullet it's holding.

Do you think its a factory assembled round? Hard to tell in the pic......

It is crimped. Hard to see in the pic but can be seen if you have it in your hand. Also, the casing and the bullet are both made of the same greyish metal.

SDC sounds pretty close, the 297 Revolver would also be close to the dimensions you give, and is known without any headstamp.
Anychance you could get more speciffic on the dimensions?
Including the rim thickness.
I find those pics hard to see clearly.

7,5X23R Swedish M1887 while a Nagant design is not a gas seal like the M95 Russian.

Also, it's case is nominally 23mm without bullet.

I can't hazard a guess even. But it would be nice to have measurements in thousandths of an inch ie 0.00? does it have a primer?
interesting cartridge tho
