McLean and I had lots of fun yesterday morning, participating in the Nanaimo Bathtub Parade. The Bathtub race takes place this morning and features fiberglass bathtubs mounted on fiberglass boat bottoms and a maximum of 10 hp outboard motors. The parade takes place on the morning of the day before and we were on the Fish & Game club float. Fired off lots of blank charges along the way. The barrels got hot enough that we would have been hard pressed to hold them by the end of the parade, without the wooden stocks.

Nice.
I always liked the bathtub race ever since I can remember it.
The idea of racing across the ocean in a bath tub has a certain appeal to a kid.... :)

As a kid I always wished I could join in and could never understand why I wasn't allowed. On Friday we sailed into Nanaimo and I was equally upset that I was going to miss them. Looks like a blast as always.

We lived in Nanaimo for a few years when I was around 7-8, fondly remember the parade, the bath tubs and Frank Ney. He always rolled around in a limo, thought that was the coolest thing ever when I was a kid. Used to watch the bathtubs take off for Vancouver, then my parents would watch it on TV too.
