Nanaimo - Gunsmiths or someone with re-barrel tools?

I bought a nice little rifle with open sights on here from a reputable seller. There was a barrel swap done on the gun and unfortunately his gunsmith did not crank the OEM barrel on quite enough. As a result the original iron sights aren't aligned properly..close...but visibly off and just enough to be annoying as hell.

The seller was kind enough to take the gun back because of this, or pay for a gunsmith to fix it. Im sure it is an easy fix I just don't have the tools for it and not my area of expertise. If anybody knows a gunsmith around the Nanaimo area we'd surely appreciate a PM

Brentwood Bay, IIRC, not such a drive.

Never used his services, but heard positive things from friends that did.

( I think I actually was in his shop a great many years back, but not real sure!)

Why would one think that headspace and barrel tenon threads would be exactly the same on two barrels? Screw one barrel off, screw a take-off on, and there is no expectation of both correct headspace and indexed sights. A good chance that you end up with neither. Have to thread / trim as required to get correct gap between bolt face and breech end of barrel, that barrel correctly torques onto torque shoulder, and then ream as required to set headspace.

It has been my experience that most Remington 700s do exactly that...........they all are production line guns, each gun is not specifically hand headspaced. I'm sure they are checked, but virtually every one I have measured has exactly the same dimensions and the same amount of case standing above the barrel ring........about .010". Sights on the other hand are obviously done after assy, as they do not necessarily come up.

OEM barrel with sights removed for a custom barrel without sights. OEM going back on. Guntech is going to fix it either way. Problem solved. Cheers guys.
