I put my name in the lottery draw on Friday for a nanuq(polar bear) tag as it's that time of year again ... find out next Friday if my name get's pulled ... CROSS your fingers for me please! :D

Tag doesn't cost me anything ... if sold to an outfitter you can get up to $10K for one.

p.s. I"m currently in Repulse Bay to train an airports maintainer ... some guy just drove up to us on his skidoo and warned us of 3 polar bears near the local northern store ... gotta go for a drive now and hope to see them. :D
 
Dont you get drawn almost every year? I thought I read a post last year of you hunting them? Good luck anyhow!!

The last two yrs I got drawn out of a hat ... LUCK my friend as there's over 150 plus applicants and only 8 tags ... you get 48 hrs to go find/shoot and bring home. Last yr I went out and didn't catch ... the yr before I went out and saw almost a dozen but couldn't get to them with open water and thin ice. If my name get's drawn again I'll be surprised .. hence asking you all to cross your fingers for me. HAHAHA Thanks CGNer's,

204 applicants counted today ... I'm #55 ... 6 people chosen this morning for 6 tags have 48 hrs from midnite tonite to go find and get one at the same time ... so GOODLUCK to the hunters who got picked today. It's quite exciting and gets the whole community talking ... HAHA ... :D

p.s. last year i was #167 or something out of approx 200 and thought I'd never have a chance ... yet I got to go ... so who knows this year ... ;)
 
Ok just found out that polar bear season 2013 starts on Nov 1 at 6am and 4 tags are OPEN so anyone can go find a bear and return quickly and report. 3 other tags will go into a lottery system afterwards which people will have to put their names in for. i'm getting ready NOW as those 4 open tags means I got a chance to finally after 3 other yrs to get one. CROSS your fingers for me please. Thanks CGNer's,
