Ok.

Prepping my son's ammo for the Nationals and I got thinking.

What if any effect will the elevation of Lethbridge have on powerfactor?

I have only shot in Ontario so I have no idea.

His original loads were coming in at 127 pf which we decided was a little close for comfort.

I would hate to take two weeks off work, drive 3500km one way to have him shoot for fun!

So....we reset the powerder drop and just got back from a Chrono Sesson.

We are at 131. He says that it is a comfortable load to shoot so I am thinking of sticking with it.

Thoughts?

Lethbridge's elevation is 910m. If that's higher than you, it's not a problem - you should be = or faster. (lower = problem)

The other issue to consider is your powder flavor. Some are sensitive to hot and cold. What powder is it and under at what temperature did you shoot the 131 PF?

We are running Tight Group

4.7gn in a Glock 17 with 115 gn bullets at the moment.

We shot it today..........Overcast sky (low pressure) with a temperature of 17 degrees C.

Have you tried 147s with a slower powder Storm?

I tried Repete's load of 3.9 unique and 147 gr Frontiers and
it was really soft shooting even at 137 PF!!

My GF far prefers it to the 118 PF 124s I had for plinking.

More of a push, less muzzle flip, sub-sonic so less report making less flinch for her.

I have been reading that Titegroup is very temperature sensitive.
Fine if you are going from colder to warmer but could get you if you go the other way.

There is one issue that you need to be aware of. Chronographs do not necessarily give the same reading. If I were you I would bump the power factor up to 135, just to be safe.

Last year my Open load chrono fast (+6 pf)at Letbridge for the provincial 07 and I live at about 800".(I have the CED) Titegroup has been pretty stable temperature wise..........131 should be safe for the required 125pf

Unfortunetly I don't remember wich chrono they had.....unless they used the CED for the Nats??
