we know or think these steyr m 95 rifles with nazi markings are fake.
but i have been watching lots of shows on the death camps and it looks like most the ukrainian auxiliaries guarding the camps were armed with M95s. is it possible when the guns were sent to the camps they stamped them for use with the SS and guards? does anyone know who or were they actually did get their german markings? like mitchalls mausers or something?
what do you guys think? i am just kind of putting an idea out there,

After the Germans took Austria into their fold, they disposed of most of the ex-Austrian military 8x56R M95 rifles and ammo to Bulgaria (in about 1940). Those few M95 Rifles/Carbines/Stutzer that were still chambered in 8x50R were taken into German service or at least storage.

From this we could say that if any M95 with Nazi German marks were chambered in 8x50R, there's a chance its original. If chambered in 8x56R, its more likely a fake.

They are fake. Only weapons made by germany or made under german occupation get german proof marks. Unless it went through a depot, but that would be quite rare. And a different marking. These M95s come up every few years.

Assuming that's the case wrt German markings, Germany annexed Austria in March 1938.
