NB Moose Draw changes

Wow! You guys make me realize how good I have it. Only once in the last 20 years have I not been successful, and on that time, I didn't apply. My wife and I apply for party tags for either moose or caribou and a buddy applies as an individual. Fees are up to about $60 now, I think. A little high but I'll take it! Still some good things about living on the rock!

Plus taxes and another $50.00 if you want the second person with a gun (both of which I'd gladly pay if I could get drawn!).

Maybe I should change my name from Billy The Kid to Billy Two Feathers.....

I have a problem with any "electronic draw"! How do I really know that my SIN, Telephone Number, Health number actually is included in the database that is used to select the numbers. And now with a weighted draw .... more software ...... more programming ..... more room for content error. 6/49 style games may have 14,000,000:1 odds ... but a least you have your ticket in hand and can watch the balls tumble and fall as they may!

In Alberta if you apply at a license vendor, you get a receipt that shows what you applied for.Every year before the draw, you receive a draw booklet that includes your priorities and there is also a website to verify your priority. There is also a site that shows what priorities that were necessary to have drawn for each species in each zone. There are a lot of electronics involved, but it is a fair system that is easy to track.

I became initiated with the alberta system drawing a NR mule deer tag. It was easy and fair! I could just look at the draw stats and easily estimate how many years I would have to apply before I had a realistic shot at a tag. That way I could plan accordingly.

It's funny how the same gov't that makes us all take a number and wait our turn at the Service New Brunswick motor vehicle branch expects us to part with our hard-earned money for the CHANCE to get drawn for a moose licence:bangHead: . If they told the folks waiting at motor vehicle that there would be a lottery to get served, they would get lynched!!!

Under to revised New Brunswick system, no matter HOW many times you have been unsuccessful in the moose draw consecutively, and no matter HOW much $ you have blown in application fees, in the top pool you STILL ONLY HAVE A 1 IN 5.6 CHANCE OF BEING DRAWN. THE ODDS NEVER GET BETTER. Those that don't have a statistics and probabilities bear with me:popCorn: , but if you got rejected 50 times in a row, you are still 6 times more likely not to be drawn than to be drawn:eek: . What's wrong with that picture?:onCrack: The worst part about it is that under the New Brunswick system there is no statistical guarantee that you will EVER be drawn, and the odds will ALWAYS be against being drawn.

This DOES NOT HAPPEN in the Alberta system. If you get drawn, it's good, and if you don't get drawn, it's good too, because you're one step closer to getting drawn. We need to really hold the Government's feet to the fire over this issue.

That's more like it! :D Although I think a file verification number printed directly on your ticket(at purchase) that directly connects/traces your draw number with the computer database should be automatic in the year 2007 - maybe not so in the year 1977 ..... but methinks we have the technology nowadays.
