NcStar 7.62x39 laser boresighter round good?

For a guy that knows nothing about scopes or sighting them in, would this be a good tool to make it simple?

They work Ok, but depending on the rifle not needed. What I do is set the rifle on sand bags at a target at 25 meters. Look down the bore and put it dead centre on the target, then dial in your scope. It will put you on paper. This method will work with open sights if you have them on target.

I don't think you need a bore sighter... just set up a couple targets: one close and one far away...

You have to shoot round to zero your scope. The method I suggested
will at least get the rounds you fire on the target.

You think its possible to go a good sighting at 50 yards at my indoor range, or should I drive an hour out of town go get further sighting in?

50 yds will get you sighted in to start, Just remember the groups should be roughly twice the size @ 100 yds.
