Hey so I bought a gun and it came with a ncstar chitty gas tube. The issue is the piston is not large enough diameter wise to make a proper seal inside the ncstar gas tube. Thus it short strokes and does not eject the round. Now I'm Dutch and cheap and if need be I will buy a new gas tube but is there any way to salvage this problem. Ie make a tight seal between the piston and the gas tube

P.s yes I know about ncstar and it's junk now that's out of the way. I need solutions

Solution: Replace the parts that are from NCStar...
Result: Problem solved.
Moral of the story: NCStar doesn't make any big boy stuff, they make kiddy toys.

Just because you're Dutch doesn't mean you can make chicken soup out of chicken sh!t...

Okay so like I said I know it's crap and I know I can buy a replacement for 36 bucks shipped. But I'd like to salvage this. Is there anyway to make a tight seal and it still function ? Thanks

You could try putting some epoxy or jb weld in a thin layer on the inside of the tube, see if you can build it up to an acceptable diameter

I thought I was cheap..........but I take my hat off to you zelly. Interestin problem and on a cheap gun worth experimenting . I think I'd go with the JB weld idea, whats to lose.
Good luck and let us know how you fix it.

Instead of putting jb weld on the inside of the tube because it would be near impossible to apply evenly on the inside of the tube. I think it would be easier to apply a thin layer ,(layer by layer to build it up) on the last ring of the actual gas piston. I just wonder if it will hold up to repeated use. And on that note if I do this then I'm potentially ruining a good gas piston and therefor if it does not work I'm stuck buying a new gas tube and piston. Some times you bend over to pick up a nickel and you drop a quarter out of your pocket If you know what I mean. Never hurts to ask people tho because some people have had this problem and may have just the right idea.

What is your time worth ? It sounds like you will be better off with a new one. Or you can spend your time to bubba your rig and then still need a new one ! Let us know how it goes good luck . Oh and post picks if you get it figured out ! ; )
