I recently picked up a cheaper scope for my AR from Marstar.
the NcStar 1.25x x 4 x illuminated recticle... I wanted the mil dot, but were out of that, so I took the p-sniper rectricle... or something like that..
I'll be going out this saturday to sight it in and see how it works...

Now, I know generally you get what you pay for it.....but what I'm here to ask is does anyone have any experience with these to wether or not they're
at least do the job and hold zero on .223 calibre/recoil ? ?

I don't care for premium optics (mostly because I can't afford it) for my 2-3 time 3 gun match that i bought the gun for...I just hope they hold zero and just do it's job and recticle adjust properly between its 1.25 - 4x range.....

Any feed back ?

means "Your mileage may vary" but is often used in forum talk meaning that your results will vary

I had a nc star tactical 3 or something like that on my sks. considering it was on an sks it worked quite well had not bad groupings. put it in a buddies bushmaster and he just about had 1 hole groups at 100 yards it was a 1.5x6. worked very well for the price. as yo said you get what you pay for but i think they are great value. eventually i'd upgrade it but for the use you describe why would you spend a 1000 bucks on a scope you'll barely use.

I've sighted in the scope and it seems to work fine, but little more shooting and I'll know if it holds zero and works well.... not sure if it'll work as dual purpose close quaters and longer shots...even though its a 1.25 - 4x...and eye relief has some play...not the same as just a red dot....I'll find out monday at the multi gun match if I can do closer shots quick ?
the cross hairs are a bit thicker than I would have preferred....as being 4x max. the target is not close enough at 100 yards and the kinda thicker cross hairs cover more of target than you'd like.......

after sighting in at 100 yds... I forgot to go back and check point of aim at 50 & 25 yds..before I ran out of ammo... :-( cause with a raised mounting rails and all.... ?

In short, I'm impressed with it for the $$$ only $ 134.00

it has built in drop compensatore switch up to 500 yds.. will check it out next time....

I have a $150 Tasco varmint scpe that I'm going to mount on my .223 - I saw a guy using one with his .308, and has said he has no problems. Tasco is usually a pretty good buy for the money.

With the quick release they are a good deal, considering the other options for a short scope and release will put you quickly into the $1,000 range. I have two, one on my M4 and the other on my Storm. I think the Storm's reticle is starting to shift after a few thousand rds of .40cal, the M4's is doing fine with about 500 rds.

I would not suggest getting a cheap scope for anything, you just end up replacing it.
I have a Millet DMS that I bought on the forum that has black specks showing up inside the glass. It works but its cheap crap, I will be tossing it for something better here soon.

Cheers!!

I have bought a few cheap scopes and generally I am not a fan - but as a purchase to see if you like the concept ( like red dots etc ) they are fine. If you have to go with a cheap scope I think there are better ideas out there than NcStar but the problem is quality control - I have had some cheapies that are clone (ie copy or fake ) Leupolds that truly work great but I have bought others (like ZOS) that were just junk. Generally, a better idea would be to get something mid-range that will last. For your rifle I would suggest either a Falcon or ( my personal favorite for AR's etc ) a Bushnell Elite 3200 Tactical 10x.
